July 30, 2008 | Filed Under Public Domain Books | No Comments

He pointed out that there is one simple way to get a PDF or Doc file onto the devices so you can read it. E-mail it to yourself! I did

OMG: "The Sadist"

July 30, 2008 | Filed Under Public Domain Movies | No Comments

Insanely jealous of all the fun that Dennis and Mr. Peel have been having at Joe Dante’s film festival in Los Angeles, I tracked down a copy of one of the films Dante screened there recently: “The Sadist.” Along with a lot of so-called public domain movies, you can watch it on the Internet for free. Not quite the New Beverly, of course. It showed up on my computer screen at about the size of a postage stamp. The sound track was totally out of synch. And…and…I’m not sure I’m going to be able

Hokies and Freedom

July 29, 2008 | Filed Under Public Domain Movies | No Comments

In the peaceful town of Blacksburg, VA, where none would suspect, a great evil lurks. Deep in the tablet requirements, the mandatory proprietary software bundles, and RIAA litigation letters lies The Hideous Beast of … NonFreedom. It preys on the helpless innocents, incarcerating them into vendor lock-ins, and subpoenaing their network records. This past fall, one student organization has risen to face this monster. They call themselves Free Culture at Virginia Tech. Touting a name that makes

WFMU is looking for RADIO DRAMA

July 28, 2008 | Filed Under Public Domain | No Comments

The listener supported New Jersey radio station, WFMU, is looking for a few good radio dramas… WFMU is looking for Radio Plays for a possible weekly program of radio theater to start this October. Lo-fi, do-it-yourself stuff is OK. It should be suitable for broadcast, which means that it should be FCC-friendly, and you should be able to clear the rights yourself, or it should be in public domain. It should also be somewhat short, from 1-55 minutes. Listeners Karinne Keithley, Danny Manl
