A couple of quick updates, and a few notable developments in the status of the Ohio Election Commission (OEC) case between the Republican 2nd-Distrtict U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt and her independent ‘08 (and now, Democratic ‘10 ) challenger David Krikorian . This is the case which resulted in the recent stunning deposition of FBI translator-turned-whistleblower Sibel Edmonds , as Schmidt has alleged “false statements” by Krikorian when he claimed that she accepted “blood money” from the Turkis

I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy

August 31, 2009 | Filed Under Public Domain Photos | No Comments

The stars come out to celebrate I am an American Day in 1951. It’s not the same as the Fourth of July but it was at the Hollywood Bowl and made for better pictures so I’m rolling with it. And - AND - as luck would have it, I AM an American, although I’ve never celebrated this holiday to my knowledge. But the stars came out to celebrate including Yvonne DeCarlo, Lana Turner (with George Richter) and Emcee Van Johnson (with Frank Fontaine). Have a Happy Fourth to all you States dwellers

I've got a lot of reading to do

Joanne Woodward reading to two children at speech therapy center in 1958. __________ I’ve been gone for a while and my desire to return has been reluctant at best. Sometimes one needs a vacation from even a cherished pastime lest it grow into a dreaded obligation. I noticed a couple of my favorite blogs had anniversaries while I was out ( Arbogast on Film and The Kind of Face You Hate ) and though I commented on them I wish I could have engaged a bit more. And it wasn’t just my own blogg

After eating out for six days straight last week while we were on vacation, there will be lots of home cooking around our house this week. (Don’t be alarmed; I’m sure I’ll be ready to check out the inside of a restaurant by this time next week!) Here’s what’s on our menu for suppers this week. Monday: Grilled Chicken Salad, Bread, Fruit Tuesday: Venison Cube Steak, Homemade Macaroni and Cheese, Great Northern Beans Wednesday: Cheesy Baked Ziti , Side Salad, Rolls, Fruit Thursday: Mex

BC Premier #20 – Simon Fraser Tolmie

August 31, 2009 | Filed Under Public Domain | No Comments

The 20th Premier of the Province of British Columbia was Simon Fraser Tolmie. I have no idea if he was related to the explorer Simon Fraser after whom the University , the river and a billion other things in BC were named. He doesn’t appear to have been a direct descendant, as Simon Fraser the Explorer immigrated to Canada from Scotland, settling in Quebec, in the 1780s, while Simon Fraser Tolmie’s father was born in Scotland and immigrated to Canada, arriving at Fort Vancouver, in 1833. I’m

Praying for Our Children Daily

August 30, 2009 | Filed Under Public Domain Pictures | No Comments

Today as I finish (for now anyway!) this series on praying for our children, I wanted to share what my girls and I pray for together each morning before they leave for school. It is the last thing we do before leaving the house – except for giving Daddy a hug goodbye! I pray that God will keep each of us safe throughout the day; I request wisdom and strength for each of their teachers; we ask God to help each of the girls make good decisions and wise choices; then I close by praying for any spe

Divorce records are known to be under public domain, which means that the public can freely search on these vital records anytime.
