This book really should’ve been called “Kristy and the Mom Jeans.” Cause check these babies out: Plus, she looks like she’s wearing tons of blush. All the little kiddies look a little crazy. The gist: The BSC, in their complete lack of wisdom, decide to take a small army of children for a day as a special Mother’s Day gift for a bunch of Stoneybrook moms, including a few of their own. See, it all starts cause they’re all (except poor, poor Mary Anne) stumped for Mom’s Day presents. So, th

Cthulhu fhtagn

So far, the app I use the most on my iPhone is the Stanza e-book reader. I had shied away from e-readers up until getting an iPhone but the chance to have a library of public domain books at my fingertips persuaded me to put my prejudice of non-paper books on hold long enough to install the Stanza app. I haven’t used a Kindle or any other e-reader before so I have nothing to compare Stanza with but I was surprisingly pleased at how well the interface worked (tap on the right to turn a page,

I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy

The stars come out to celebrate I am an American Day in 1951. It’s not the same as the Fourth of July but it was at the Hollywood Bowl and made for better pictures so I’m rolling with it. And - AND - as luck would have it, I AM an American, although I’ve never celebrated this holiday to my knowledge. But the stars came out to celebrate including Yvonne DeCarlo, Lana Turner (with George Richter) and Emcee Van Johnson (with Frank Fontaine). Have a Happy Fourth to all you States dwellers

Applesauce Pear Muffins

September 30, 2009 | Filed Under Public Domain Pictures | No Comments

If you haven’t guessed it from all the muffin recipes I’ve shared before, I’ll let you know that I love having homemade baked goods around the house for breakfasts and snacks. This recipe was inspired by a couple of ripe pears that I needed to use up. These muffins are very moist with a lightly sweet flavor and are at least a bit on the healthier side with the inclusion of wheat flour and the ripe pears. Applesauce Pear Muffins 1 cup all-purpose flour ½ cup whole wheat flour ¾ cup sugar 1

Love Thy Neighbor’s Mug Shot

September 29, 2009 | Filed Under Public Domain Pictures | No Comments

A startling article by Tim Badgett in the September 21st issue of Time magazine described how some papers are simultaneously trimming picture budgets and bulking up online readership by featuring digital, continua
