More “Who Blocked You on MSN” Threats

September 28, 2009 | Filed Under Public Domain | No Comments

In August I decided to write an article about the “phishing” threat of websites offering you the chance to see who blocked you on MSN (or other IM services). It seems that the article had a good number of visits, but at the same time I saw that I kept receiving more and more spam of this kind. Almost all of the emails were coming from people in my list. That is because these contacts had their computers infected with malware that was distributing these messages. Many of these sites have not

Photos you can use

A friend asked about online repositories of photos that can be used for academic presentations and I mentioned several sources. I realized after sending the list that many others may not know about the wealth of resources available, especially for teaching and learning. Online photo repositories (check usage rights for each): Free images for your inspiration, reference and use in your creative work, be it commercial or not! http://morguefile.com/ Creative Commons search, but check lic

I adore being in charge; or, BSC #24: Kristy and the Mother's Day Surprise

September 27, 2009 | Filed Under Public Domain Songs | No Comments

This book really should’ve been called “Kristy and the Mom Jeans.” Cause check these babies out: Plus, she looks like she’s wearing tons of blush. All the little kiddies look a little crazy. The gist: The BSC, in their complete lack of wisdom, decide to take a small army of children for a day as a special Mother’s Day gift for a bunch of Stoneybrook moms, including a few of their own. See, it all starts cause they’re all (except poor, poor Mary Anne) stumped for Mom’s Day presents. So, th

This beautiful image is a color-enhanced view of Ganymede. Large enough to be considered a planet in it’s own right, it orbits Jupiter instead of the sun. The mysterious Portuguese Bible at biblegateway.com

September 27, 2009 | Filed Under Public Domain | No Comments

It’s the same version used by Go Bible for their mobile phone Bible app. The copyright information on their website lists it as “public domain.” But there is no version or copyright information. A few pieces of information to note: Although called “Almeida Atualizada” there is no known version of the Portuguese Bible with this name. It is closer to the Corrigida than the Actualizada. Google Books hearing postponed; new deal in works

September 27, 2009 | Filed Under Public Domain Books | No Comments

The parties involved in the Google Book Search settlement have asked a federal court to postpone an October hearing to approve the proposed settlement while they work out a new deal When the Department of Justice made it clear last Friday that it could not support the settlement as written–which would give Google unique rights to scan out-of- print books still protected by copyright law–it said the parties were in talks to amend the settlement. In a joint brief, lawyers the Authors Guild

Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu Speaks Truth To Evil and Power–Where Will The American People and President Obama Stand?

September 27, 2009 | Filed Under Public Domain | No Comments

“The Jews are alone in the world. If Israel survives, it will be solely because of Jewish efforts. And Jewish resources. Yet at this moment Israel is our only reliable and unconditional ally. We can rely more on Israel than Israel can rely on us. And one has only to imagine what would have happened last summer [1967] had the Arabs and their Russian backers won the war to realize how vital the survival of Israel is to America and the West in general. I have a premonition that will not leave me;
